Could running errands be the new coffee date for moms?

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour”

Ecclesiastes 4:9 KJV

Could running errands be the new coffee date for moms? Running errands sometimes feels like a fulltime job. When you add it to the ever-growing list of laundry, dishes, cooking, gardening, and all the other things to keep up a house it can get a bit overwhelming. Trying to prioritize friend time on top of all that can feel impossible.

Recently a group my friends were attempting to set up a coffee date. After numerous texts of everyone’s availability, none of it lining up, it sort of fizzled out. A few weeks later a friend was having car trouble so I offered to take her grocery shopping. It was AMAZING! We chatted and shopped, even going to multiple stores when the one we were at didn’t have everything on our lists. We were able to catch up (in person) and get errands done all at the same time!

Reflecting on it after, it feels obvious. Instead of trying to fit yet another thing in the schedule, like a coffee date, why not make it an errand date? I realize it’s easier said than done because you still need to coordinate schedules. For me though, it’s easier to say yes to going to the grocery store than putting something off in favor of a coffee. You can even (probably) still get your coffee while you shop!

How do you fit in person friend time into your busy schedule? Let me know in the comments!

Have a blessed day!
